Second steps in gesture drawing
3yr
@catlivesupstairs
Hi all, I got some really helpful feedback here on my last set of gesture drawings (thank you!) and watched the videos again before doing another hundred or so attempts. I finally feel like I'm slowly starting to understand how to find the gesture and the motion. I appreciate any feedback, critique, or suggestions - I'm trying to focus less on contour and more on gesture, use fewer strokes to form a line, and to find the flow between body parts to express the weight and tension in a pose. Thank you!

Hey, @catlivesupstairs, I agree with @paper, you’ve been progressing visibly since your last post. This looks like a nice set of gestures, so I’ll just reinforce my previous suggestion of moving on with the course (if you haven’t already). Over practice, you should definitely see things finetune more. Keep it up and feel free to keep sharing your work with us for feedback. Best regards!

Thank you so much @Liandro! I really appreciate your feedback. I decided that I would do 300 gestures until the end of February and then move on, so I have started the next steps in the course. Thanks again!

Sorry, those weren't very clear.

Hello Captiveupstair,I think you improve on the flow of action quite nicely.I am quite fond on the 3rd and 4th drawing you did,as I think you really captured the gesture really well. If I have to give critisim,I thinksome of the proportion feeels a bit off,like in the first drawing I feel left hand and leg is a bit too small.(I also think you made the neck too forward and made the pose less dynamic)Here is an overdrawing of my solution if that helps The second drawing I also think the proportion on your arm is a bit small and I think the leg feels a bit stiff (here's another overdrawing of my solution) But other than that,pretty good,please continue,you're making a great job!
