Last summer studies

Gouache studies. Made last summer. Paper size was A4 and I just divided the paper with tape to get four on one sheet. I feel these studies helped a lot but I really have to pay more attention on the colors. What do you think of these?

Hi Pasi, could you give some more specific thoughts on what you'd like critiqued, and in which pieces? Composition, color, light, for example?

Lol just happened to look at your paintings, thought to myself "these are good, but the colors and shapes make it look like Finland". Then I looked at your name 😁 hyvä Suomi!

Yes :D

These look great, @Pasi Leinonen! I really like the rich variations you’re being able to achieve just with gouache. The loose brush strokes are pleasing to look at and each little piece feels harmonious on its own. This must have been a fun exercise! I really like how you painted that bridge on the top right one in the second image, so I’m wondering perhaps you’d want to bring more mixes of architecture and nature in future studies? Keep up the good work!

Thank you @Liandro , Yes these were really fun to do. I certainly will continue and will take your advice about architectural mix. Thanks!

I'm still getting into gouache and need to work on landscapes and these are really inspiring, thank you for sharing. I'd love to see your approach to something like a jungle or canyon.
Pasi Leinonen
Thank you! Jungle or canyon would be interesting subject to paint, thanks for the suggestion!

Here few more. First three in gouache (plein-air) just focusing on the colors of this lake view (same day, different time) and the last one was painted with oils (plein-air).

These are awesome - I love how you simplified the landscape in the first three ones in order to focus on colors. They look great when we see the three as a group.
