I'm learning to draw animals - Horses
3yr
Hi, just wanted to share this 7 min drawing of a horse (from reference).
For the last 2 & 1/2 weeks I've been focusing on animals.
I started by watching Marshall Vandruff's introduction to animal anatomy, then learned the mannequin suggestion and the proportions of the horse from the Famous Artists School book. Then I practiced some until I felt like a had a decent grip on it.
This week I've been digging into the details of horse anatomy and studied Goldfinger's book. Next week will be practice, practice, practice.

Hi, I'm practicing drawing animals until summer. I think the animals I'll end up studying will be the horse, the leopard and the gorilla (for my Tarzan drawings 🍌🦍 :).
Here's a pen and ink sketch of a leopard and a horse, from imagination, that I did for fun. One of my main concerns when practicing is to capture the likeness of the animals and I think these sketches did that pretty well. They were done with a manga G-pen.
I've been practicing horses for 3 weeks and this and the coming week has the leopard in focus. The two weeks after that will be gorilla time :D. I practice 2 hours a day 4 days a week.
If you have any tips on how to capture an animal's likeness the best, please share them :)
Cheers!
great job, I love how you did it simple and how the gesture was found. Your progress seems good so far although I’d need to see your practice before this, Blow Them Away🥳🎉🧨🥇🧨
