Border Terrier Portrait

I have a strong attachment to the Border Terrier breed (I have my second one now) and I saw this one on the Border Terrier subreddit. He looked so regal and handsome so I decided to do a portrait to help me with my proportion practice. The fur was pretty difficult so I tried to capture the overall flow and direction since I don't have a lot of practice with texture. Please let me know what you think and I hope you all like it!

Your drawing is so cute! This guy is difficult to draw for proportion practice because that wiry hair conceals the form a bit. You want to block in the anatomy before you place the fur so that it looks a though the texture of the fur is wrapping around a 3D object rather than a flat object. Use lots of curves to find the shapes that the sections of fur make over the form and follow that path with your strokes. Hope that helps :)
