Here are my final submissions. That's five out of many 2"x2" thumbnails that I made last days. All the reference images come from my private gallery. I really enjoyed the challenge, good luck everyone!!

love your brushwork so much style
@julia_kamenskikh
Hi all, my name is Julia Kamenskikh, and this is my official entry for #prokochallenge organized by @tiffaniemangart and @prokotv Five tiny paintings, all sized by 2 in x 2 in. Painted with gouache and 3/4 in brush. And I think those are the smallest paintings ever done before. And cannot express how much I’ve enjoyed it. You are forced to simplify and it feels like solving a puzzle to me. I will be definitely doing these again, thank you Tiffany for such a great idea and all organizers for organizing this! All photos are taken by me.

Here is my submission for this brand new year's first #prokochallenge (Are these hashtags required here as well?) for @Tiffanie Mang 's landscape thumbnails! I'll post the references in the reaction on this entry. I am actually proud of them, I had to redo a lot but got somewhere in the end ;-) How did you guys do?

These are cool almost border an art-deco style.

Here are my thumbnails. (The first image is my submission, the others are just my practice versions. I included them because I don’t have source photos.) I learned a TON by doing this. I got a much better handle on water control, and composition simplification by painting these thumbnails over and over until I was happy with the direction. I intended to paint landscapes reminiscent of scenes you might find in my home state of Ohio. In each scene I tried to incorporate a mix of lost and found edges to help evoke feelings of nostalgia and solitude. These are all watercolor on paper. (Daniel Smith pigments, and 140# cold press Arches paper.) These were painted with Escoda Reserva brushes sizes 4 and up. For each thumbnail, I used the same palette consisting of Carbazole Violet, Cerulean, Phthalo Blue, Cobalt Teal, Ultramarine Turquoise, Pyrrol Orange, Prussian Blue, Indanthrone Blue, Quinacridone Rose, Carmine, Raw Umber, Burnt Sienna, Hansa Yellow Light, and Quinopthalone Yellow.

Hello!          My name is Victor Perez. Here are the entries for the challenge.  I tried to have some continuity in the thumbnail with the pathways that naturally led the eye through each image. I didn't use any direct references. Instead, I tried to combine parts of the references I liked and create my own elements. The first and the third image are primarily from imagination with some inspiration from a bridge where I work and the dessert in the reference images. The color palettes came from some reference images and primary complementary color schemes. I used gouache on a triple primed canvas board and a medium-layer brush from Citadel. I also used a slow drying medium from Winsor & Newton for acrylics and managed to get an effect I liked.

Very cool that you went that imaginative! I like seeing people pulling stuff like this out of their brains! :D

I would love any feedback on this, I’m trying to simplify this image in my mind for this challenge. I keep wanting to add the rocks in on the left, but I don’t know if they help or hurt. I’m leaning toward getting rid of them in keeping with the simplification part of this challenge.

great volume wow!

My first 8 attempts, with photo references. I had no idea how much effort this challenge would take, but the process is great fun! Any feedback is much appreciated.

These really are great you get that super impressionistic effect when you squint your eyes, they look incredibly real.

Hey! Newbie here. I saw the contest Friday night and started giving myself a crash course in landscapes the next morning. I've never painted so I decided to shmear charcoal around in the interest of producing something presentable. I do love color though, so I used these snazzy post-it notes. They're about the right size and I think the colors add mood. :) All comments appreciated!

These thumbnails look good keep at it. You're getting a lot of elements naturally so that's great.

These are some sketches and value rendering before I paint them. I mainly work traditionally so I'll be painting these in gouache.

Interesting, good idea keeping it in perspective.

Ooh I really like the black and white approach. It's interesting to see you see you take advantage of the small scale to do perspective lines - that's a great idea!
