I tend to restate lines because it’s hard for me to see them. I noticed that I find it very difficult to hold the image in my head and so I spend more time looking back and forth then looking at my drawing. I also have trouble sustaining concentration on this for more than a few minutes.

Your concentration will be trained over time :) don't be too hard on yourself and keep going, focusing for as long as you can comfortably. Over time you'll notice your endurance increase. You seem to have a good eye and with time and patience you will continue to develop your skill. For these drawings, you used a good variety of c-curves, s-curves, and straights. While drawing, like @Timea mentioned, focus on making confident strokes, specifically for this exercise. The goal is to simplify with CSI, so it's okay if you loose some information as you translate. Take your time and work on neatness. Overall you did a great job. Hope this helps :)

Hi there! I think your supposed to look back and forth at the drawing and picture, you are trying to reproduce what your seeing in an image so you do need to look back at it a lot, so thats totally normal in this exercise. Also getting into the practice mindset is hard for me too sometimes, this might be the reason why you are tempted to get distracted, maybe you dont like how you drew a specific line and your mind's just like" fck it, im out", at least this is how it is for me sometimes, but each time is getting easier and easier to focus, especially if you start to allow yourself to make big confident lines, its much more fun than just drawing little lines and worry about every single one of them. Based on your drawing this might be something for you to work on, drawing big lines, you could challange yourself to draw the body of the snail from only 6 lines or something like that, or to do the inner side of the boot from only one line. Keep going & have fun! :D Regards :)

my first pear! I am finding it tricky to pick 5 specific values. All the light colors kind of blended together.

Don't be afraid to go darker in your darkest values, this will help with your lighter values. Also try to get a nice even application of the value, this will help it read better. Might need to try the side of the pencil to get an even application, play around with it.
