added comment inProko Challenge Landscape Thumbnails - FINAL SUBMISSIONS HERE
Thanks for the contest! My biggest challenge with these digital thumbs was avoiding the urge to zoom. I had to change my hotkey in Photoshop from zoom to rotate image to avoid doing it. I spent about 30 minutes on each... too long for a thumbnail? I may had added more detail than necessary but I wanted them to be presentable at a level that I am pleased with. The reference images are taken mostly from my work commute.
Here is my submission. I took some photos from my winter holidays as reference for this one. The colours in these look pretty similar so I've attempted to paint thumbnails in 5 different colour choices.
Even if I struggled with adding too many details and zooming in, this exercise helped me focus more on shape design and lighting.
Hello,
So here are my 5 Thumbnails studies, Really enjoyed doing it .
And best of luck to everyone !
Hey!!! Here are my selection of 5 thumbs for this challenge, I've only done 16 thumbs but I've learned few things along the way. A huge thank you to our hosts. Good luck everyone and Congratulations on finishing this challenge!
Hey guys! I decided to train a little more and redid the 5 images with a slightly different approach. I liked it and decided to deliver this other set as well for the challenge. Thank you all for the opportunity and for the welcome.
This was a really fun challenge. I spent way more time hunting reference than actually painting because I wanted to practice landscapes with interesting colours and compositions without using photos that have already been edited to all get out. I ended up screenshotting hiking and drone vids on youtube. I love that I can bash these out over my lunch break, definitely takes away a lot of the anxiety over working up the nerve to take on a bigger painting.
This was a lot of fun. Landscape thumbnail painting is probably my favorite thing in the world. So peaceful :) really happy to see what other people are doing too. Some are off reference, but it was fun to challenge myself that way too.
