Hi, really excited to start the drawing basics course! Had a lot of fun so I drew all of them. I am not a new artist but I am struggling with my fundamentals so feedback is very much appreciated!

Love how clearly defined the different planes in these drawings are!

I drew a pear in pencil and digitally. I really struggled, to be honest. I was surprised at how difficult I found this. Simplification truly is not simple at all. I'm not super happy with the result, but I guess that's a pretty normal feeling too. Things were drawn, and despite the struggle I did have fun :) I also learned some new things about the digital process (using Infinite Painter on a tablet), and I'm excited to watch Stan's demo and give the assignment another go. If I decide to come back to this assignment, can I post my future attempts again, or is that not really how it works?

Haha, I love the fact that Proko refuses to use the F pencil. I will follow suit. That abomination no longer exists. In fact, after scanning the exercises for this class, I think I should probably restrict my range to 2B-9B since anything lighter really isn't picked up by my scanner.

*HOT TAKES ONLY* Do you draw on the front and back of your sketchbook pages or just the right side?

Both sides, unless marker shows through the other side of the page.

Hello - the tools I'll be using for this course are the Wacom One Display and Clip Studio Paint. I'll be using the brushes in my Sub Tool box called "Main". I dabbled with the Darker Pencil, Mechanical Pencil, and a kneaded eraser to doodle while paying attention to how they feel with medium and low stabilization. I look forward to improving my drawing skills during this course and giving and receiving constructive feedback :)

Love the gesture drawings!

First course assignment! Just putting some graphite to paper. The physical act of collecting all my pencils and sharpening them was really soothing. I was surprised to see that the HB pencil was a little darker than the B pencil (but that's probably due to them being made by different manufacturers, or is it supposed to be like that?). Also: my scanner isn't great, so I added the same page with some boosted black levels. Either one doesn't really come close to the actual values on the page, so I might try some digital tools for projects I'll be posting in this course as well. Nice to meet all of you, and I look forward to studying drawing basics together :)

I really enjoy sharpening my pencils too. Cool warm ups!

Loving the course so far. What really struck me is just how similar Jim's advice is to the Draftsmen podcast episode on portfolios. Show the kind of work you want to be hired for, make it easy for other people to work with you and always be kind to everybody involved in the process (because it's the right thing to do but also because those are your future employers).

The incredible paintings of Stefan Hoenerloh.

Day 1 - #Proktober - Spider Did a pencil sketch and decided to try marker and ink to finish the drawing. Did the marker first because I thought the marker would smudge the ink. However the marker ended up obscuring the pencil drawing completely so the ink lines are pure guesses in most cases. Will try inking first and markers last for the next one.
