These look so dynamic, especially the 4th and 5th pages!

Hello, I've been struggling with this section but am trying to make improvements! It seems as though I'm making up planes that are going in the wrong directions, as well as shading them randomly where they shouldn't fall into shadow. @Liandro, @Bradwynn Jones I would really appreciate it if you could take a couple of minutes to look at my work please? Thank you :)

Hey, @Elana Kippen! Very good ones! I totally agree with Bradwyn, what you've done is no easy task. I think your plane visualization is actually pretty effective - especially since you worked on a more "secondary" (thus complex) level of the forms. With that said, I agree that aiming for simpler structures will certainly help - you can always add more complexity later. Synthesizing complex things into a simpler statement is a skill that will often come in handy in drawing, so it's worth taking the time to strengthen it. Think "primary forms": spheres, boxes and cylinders - then, you can bend, tilt and twist them just enough to make it more organic and better fit the animal structure you want (rather than making it too geometric or stiff). By the way, if you'd like a bit more clarity on the difference between primary, secondary and tertiary forms, you might take a little sneak-peek into the How to Shade a Drawing video - just the snippet between 0:45 and 1:20 should be enough to understand these concepts. As examples, I've added a few draw-overs with that idea of simplification in mind. It might not necessarily look like a "simple" result, but the main thing is that it's mostly based of the three basic 3D forms and organic-ish variations of them. Hope it helps. Let me know in case you have any other questions! And sorry it took me this long to reply - my wife and I just had a baby and only now things are settling down a little more. :) Best regards!

Nice study and making a plane focused drawing is really hard. I would try to simplify the figures more. Try to incorporate more of the mother forms like spheres, cylinders and cubes. You can stretch these forms into shapes needed as well. If there is a twist or bend in the cylinder for example.
