Ignore the previous assignments up top lol. This wasn't as scary as I thought would be, although the girls was tricky. The arm was fun! I couldn't figure out where my #2 pencil went, but I glanced over and my cup full of teacher's grading pencils was there, one end blue, one end red, and I thought... hey... why not? lol. I look forward to seeing how he did this though, so I can improve on this... I'm LOVING this course.

Oh boy I'm looking forward to the demo, because I think I somehow managed to overcomplicate this AND oversimplify it all at once. Goodness me.

Okay after watching the demo, I redid my pear #2.... I do think it's improved. And it gave me the opportunity to correct where my previous lines were going every which-way.

I'm not attempting this yet, because I want to work my way through the course, and then loop back around and attempt this level 2. My favorite thing about this, was that halfway though, I was thinking... this is my struggle, putting shadows on pencil drawings just makes them look haggard or old... and then I watched the rest of this come together... truly beautiful to watch it unfold, and he looks young again when it's all completed. A masterclass in trusting the process lol.

I knew this course was going to challenge me, and boy was I right lol. I've never drawn anything planar, so this was a struggle. My first attempt I was pressing down the pencil like we're warned about... I'm sure you can tell from the not fully erased portions. And as you can see, it was too close to the edge for my shadow to have space, which I didn't figure out until my 3rd attempt at this. SO this was the 4th attempt, and I don't like that I went in umpteen different directions with my strokes, and I was really bad at the 3 values in the pear itself. I'm looking forward to trying this again after I watch the demo and critiques!
