I haven't drawn a hand for ages so I really struggled with this one. This is one of 5 versions. I think the dynamics and general anatomy is ok. but it doesn't match the original. in other versions i tried to map the proportions with a box showing the end of the fingers, but it ended up with a messed up anatomy. i would really appreciate help.

after i drew the portrait before the demo, this is the version after the demo. i tried to stay relatively close to the shapes shown there. apart from the proportions, i found the clean hatching especially difficult. nevertheless, i am happy with the result and the exercise was fun.

This is a great start! Nice work keeping the lines straight and the shapes sharp.
I think you could push the shadow values more. Any of the planes of the face that are falling away from the light can fall into shadow.
