Asked for help
Been awhile since I did a Proko lesson. I’m a little bit confused about the size of the ribcage. I measured it out to the lengths of two heads but it seems wide to me. I’ll be going over the critique video next.

Day 12, ‘Had something come up today that limited my finger drawing time. I did have some time for 5 30sec beans. Thank you for the kind words on my last post.
Joseph Osley
No worries. I have essential tremor, so I completely understand manual limitations. Every little bit you can get in when you feel up to it helps. Just setting some brain time aside to think about the process and how you can approach drawing in different ways is helpful too.

I know this doesn't seem like much, but this is great. Even when you're busy you managed to fit just a little bit in. Just taking even a minute or two to reinforce the habit is a big deal in the long run.

Day 11, ‘I kinda feel like I am back pedaling with these. I’m going to try and watch the video again tomorrow. Any suggestions will be helpful.
Joseph Osley
I agree with Gannon. I think these are some of your best gestures yet. It's not uncommon to feel like we are regressing as we work on a skill. It's often a sign that our eyes are catching up to our output and we begin to notice where we can improve further. Ultimately it's a good thing, if it is uncomfortable at times. I struggle with this constantly. I love those bending over gestures especially. Keep going!

I think you're being a little hard on yourself. The ones in blue where you're adding the limbs are good gestures. The bean is a successful strategy for you. That said the bean videos are great. I'd do the long one and draw along with Stan as you do them. I find that approach helpful.

Day 10, I thought I posted yesterday but it looks like it didn’t go through. The first two images are from day 9. I tried to attach limbs to the bean in two minute poses.

Great job. Adding limbs to the bean is a great strategy. You can get lots of good gestures from that approach.

Day 8, Had some last minute family obligations , but managed to draw 20 beans before the deadline. I’m a little confused as to what I am supposed to do for the side view?
Joseph Osley
The beans must flow. i think you’re doing great with the bean. From a complete side view the bean may look less “bean-y.” It’s rare to get a full profile in figure drawing though. I think the main difference would be the lack of center lines, as they’d appear along the same lines that define the contours at a side view. Hope that helps. Keep up the great work! Every bit helps.

161st Day of Proko and counting. Thirty second, two minute, and five minute sketches.
Nathan Jasso
I really like your line work! You simplify the anatomy in as little lines as possible, which is admirable.

Day 7, ‘Focussing on the bean. After watching the critique video I noticed they are a bit tame. I’m going to try and exaggerate more tomorrow.
Joseph Osley
In the beangining there was darkness, and the bean said, "Let there be bean!" Love the bean. These are great!

Good job, Nathan!

Day 6, Orange is 30 seconds,blue is 2 min.
Joseph Osley
There's a lot of distortion of forms in these, and the proportions and foreshortening are not quite there; but I absolutely love them. You're capturing something with these that I don't quite have the word for. Really interesting. I'm excited to see where you go as you progress. Keep up the great work!

Day 5, Thank you everyone for the feedback with my last post. I actually finished these this morning, but was lagging on putting them together in one layer.

I agree with Joseph--you have some good mark making going on. Keep leaning into these. It looks like you're on to something.
Nathan Jasso
Hello everyone, ‘This is my 4th day of doing timer sketches. I’m attempting the figure drawing course right now and completed the first section today. I want to work more on gesture this weekend then start with “the bean” section on Monday. The orange ones are 30 second drawings and the blue ones are 2 min. I need to work on proportion and making the figures smaller so I don’t get them chopped up. The reason why my lines may be darker than most is because I have an eye condition that limits my vision. It does get confusing sometimes when I’m trying to figure out which line is which. Looking forward to working with you all!
Joseph Osley
Really cool! Love the movement of the lines. You have a lot of energy in your mark making, which is awesome! Thanks for sharing.

Very nice, Nathan! I'm in the figure drawing course, too and these daily sketches really help with practicing the concepts.
