added comment inProko Challenge My Life Movie Poster - FINAL SUBMISSIONS HERE
PLOT
"Reverie" is a film about my personal experience drawing and painting fantasy creatures. Creating fantasy worlds in our heads is something that I'm sure every one of us do often. With that premise, I thought about a story where I fall sleep looking at the moon on a full moon night, when I wake up everything seems extrange to me, I am in another world.
That world is there for me, I get lost in all its majesty and greatness. Wild life in this fantasy world conforms a rich enviroment of new species and I feel the need to draw them so that I have notes of every creature, every piece of land.
On my way I meet unknown creatures such as the ones you see on the film poster, who help me find a way to return to my world at the same time we fight dangers and discover secrets well hidden.
After living an adventure with theese characters, I have to make the final decision, do I want to go back to life or do I want to stay there forever? Will I ever remember this world?
THOUGHTS
My main idea was to create an "8" composition with all the characters involved in the plot. I also wanted me to be on the bottom with the book so that creatures looked like they are coming from the book somehow. I wanted to avoid making them literally coming out of the book but rather make the book the base of the painting so that hopefully it has that feel of giving life to everything.
Hope you like it, you guys are all very skilled, can't wait to see all submissions left.
Hi everyone!
Firstly, I just wanted to say how glad I am to be a part of this competition.
If it is ok, I would like to say a few words about the work itself. (Nobody is forcing you to read this! :)
Namely, although the topic is "My life", I did not expect that the work would really turn out to be so personal. And it is, which I'm glad. That is why I would like to clarify its symbolism.
The work is symbolic on a few levels. I will be brief in explaining each.
Personal level - Work is, obviously, sort of a self-portrait, more precisely my head. Starting from the bottom, we move from the poorest ends to idyllic utopias at the top. It is a symbol of life, which can be difficult and leave scars, but our mind will always be clean and protected, no matter how life treats us. We just need to figure that out.
Universal level - Life is not something that happens to me only, instead I am happening to the phenomenon of life. Thus my personal life becomes everyone's life and my head becomes a copy of society and civilization. It is still unfortunate that we are still divided by levels. However, those who are down and working hard seem to be keeping this whole thing in its flight.
Art level. The work is, of course, primarily shaped by certain artistic elements, taking into account all the requirements of a film poster. It is clear, simple and (I hope) original and credible to its (fictional) genre, which would be a sort of indie drama. He also reminds of children's drawings, which, through the fact that it talks about my former work as an art teacher, reminds of the child in all of us.
I hope I wasn’t too long in explanation. I wanted to share this with you out of pure pleasure that brought me working on this piece, and which without this competition would never have occurred. I wish all of the participants a lot of success, there are really good works here!
Best,
Nikola
