added comment inUltimate Guide to Sketchbooks and Paper
Stan's comment about printer paper kinda blew my mind. I never ever even thought about practicing on cheap paper! This sent me down a rabbit hole of Amazon. What I did find is a 250ct stack of 150gsm Vellum Bristol for 25 dollars. It feels very nice to draw on, is still a little bit thicker and cheap. Dont mind the pads, I'm trying to find papers that I like. Thats been a journey in itself.

how it didn't cross your mind ? I mean if I'm going to practice something that's not meant to look pretty, I'll use the cheapest paper I got :D

Asked for help
Hi, I’d like to share my results. I highly recommend using a blue-lead pencil to create a grid—it made a huge difference in keeping things organized. A T-square ruler is truly a game-changer!

I would have never looked at a piece like this, thats more nature based, and stopped to think this much about the use of perspective and now I probably wouldn't be able to look at any piece without considering its perspective, even if its for a fraction of the time I look at it. That's a valuable lesson on its own, I suppose.
indeed, and what an amazing piece of art it is, so much lovely crafted details and appreciation for water :)

did anyone ever asked and David replied/explained why is he tapping his pen so thickly ? :) to protect fingers ? seems like more pain :D
I recall him saying it was a comfort/ergonomic thing, preventing strain, keeping him from gripping too tight, etc. There are ergonomic pencils out there, but he found it easier to add tape to the stuff he uses so he can get it just right for him.

wonderful drawing skills Eliza, just the way I'd love to draw myself :) keep merging the portraits, stylizing them to your own taste, adding some impressionistic elements etc.
