Hello all,
Many thanks to Stan for this wonderful drawing course. I have been trying my hand at "Nicolai" and could use some honest criticism so I can see mistakes and learn from them.
Thank you very much and best regards,
Katja

Nice attempt! I think you really nailed the tones of the image, the balance of lights and darks is really striking! Good job! The biggest area you can improve on is proportions. You need to practice more on capturing the underlying structure of the head and correctly placing the features on that structure, so practice more with the Loomis head lessons.
A good way to check your work when you're working from reference is to overlay the drawing in photoshop to see where you went wrong.

Hello! I wrote down some notes alongside a quick drawover that I hope is useful. Overall, good work. You have nice control over the medium and are getting down the likeness. Something to watch for are proportions--I noticed you're understanding the construction of the features individually but practice looking at how they're placed onto the face shape. I think it would help to move around the loomis and skull models to see how the proportions rotate in space. In this example, it seemed like they are placed at a different angle than the head is facing and are leaning towards bigger proportions than they appear on the model. Also keep in mind how the light hits the subject as a whole, so how one form would cast a shadow onto another (e.g. the head casting a shadow on the neck). Hope this helps :)
Dear creative team from Prokolab,
would it be possible to offer the tools in such a way that you no longer need to download them and can view them online instead? I work as a lecturer at an educational institution and use my private computer for this purpose. Sometimes a colleague borrows my computer and then I always hope that he does not find the nude models. Unfortunately, I also always lose USB sticks, so this would not be an optimal solution either. Last week my husband found the pictures with the nude models on my computer, which initially caused jealousy because my husband had not yet noticed that I have been practicing figure drawing for some time. I was able to explain it to him and now he thinks it's great. Nevertheless, it would somehow be more reassuring for me if I did not have to download the pictures.
Thanks again for the great website. I enjoy every second :-)
Best regards, Katja
