Hey all! Looking for some feedback on my value studies. I was focused more on form rendering because im usually dependent on my line art. Thanks so much!
Hello! Do you think someone learning to draw should begin on a more realistic, traditional parh? Or should they continue to "styalize" as they learn the fundamentals?

A figure study. Please do share critiques. I am trying to learn how to make values without smudging.
A really beautiful study. Your shadow mapping is nice and you put alot of good work into the face. One thing that stands out to me is that the range of values seems off in certain areas. I have a hard time knowing where to look and some of the forms, like in his left leg, seem flattened out. I would say to continue to do studies like this and practice shading primitive shapes or mannequins. maybe try a 2 value system as well. But I think your heading in a good direction, nice work.

Proktober prompt 2: eyes
Im calling this one "transformation" 🧙♀️🧙♀️
I feel like I rushed this a bit, but im pleased that I finished it up!
I feel like I’m starting to grasp it, and would really appreciate some critiquing! Thanks!
Really nice drawings. I can feel the movement in middle three but I lose some of that gesture in the left and right pose. I think the gesture could have been pushed just a hair more. The proportions stood out to me as well. They feel a bit long. Your in the right headspace though. Keep on learning and applying new things. Great job.

I too am trying to learn lighting and shadows.
Would love to get critiques on this assignment that I recently did.
This is a really nice study. Your shadow shapes on the forms look great. The crease shadow is really satisfying. I do think that the cast shadow of the overall all shape looks a bit rushed around the edges. Also im not to sure what is, but the cast shadow on the middle cylinder seems off to me. I would haft to look at your reference if there was one. All together this is great and I love how your combining the forms to make cool shapes.
