For me it's about finding what makes the master a master to me. And to figure out how they approach each drawing. So that I can incorporate their techniques into my work. I want people to see my style but also see my influences. And these influences all feed into the development of your own style.

I'm really proud of this one. I scrolled through some and damn y'all really good already! Actually I think this is the best I've ever done so far hahaha. I worked really hard on the contour and for the first time could visualize the fruit on the paper before drawing it. I think this is a piece of the puzzle. I would love some critique tho if you don't mind. I would like to know where I could improve. I think the shadows are a bit too simple. Also a lot of you had so much more detail still. Anyways thanks for the time :)

I think this is pretty good. A lot of us with more detail had too much. This is a good simplification. My main criticism is the photo. I thought the proportions were off but this is a steep angle on your phone, try to get some flat shots from right above so we get the proper shapes of what you did.

Tried another Yusuke Nakano study. Having a hard time controlling my line weight still, it seems.

Is this digital? If so I would try traditional media. Literally every increase in art skills I have ever had came when I put down the iPad and used my pencil. To be clear this also helped my digital art as well. They are different skill sets but skill with traditional helps your digital out more than the reverse imo.

First one is a study with Léa Nahon, an awesome tattooer/illustrator I've always looked up to. Before this class I never would have even attempted this style. Hers is the black mine is the blue. It seems that she contours internally with rough squiggly "searching" lines.

This one is from hllywood_homicide another tattooer, his linework seems to ensure that every distinct POI is separated by an asymmetry or a stagger while being connected by at least one curved flowing line. It is work noting that both of these artists so far are tattooers and have a tendency to post some NSFW things. So if that is a no go I would give their pages a pass.

First is original by Dave Malan. I've noticed that with this exercise my main stumbling block has been proportion. I'm very excited to get to that. Critiques always welcome.

The way you made the top of head less important than the face is totally amazing. Love them both

First one is light from an alternate direction and second is hierarchy of importance.

Here is my first attempt. I realized that next time I really need to experiment more and go out of my comfort zone. Any advice is appreciated :D

I love the anatomy chart. You must like learning about crabs. They all look nice and sketchy!
