I really liked the third gesture drawing I did - but the others seemed to lack the same amount of flow and simplicity - I would really appreciate it if anyone has any advice on simplifying more complex poses. I also think I struggled a lot with separating the contour from the gesture - if anyone has any advice/feedback I would really appreciate it!

@happypiqueon I like a lot of these gestures. In terms of capturing the movement while also creating a legible pose, I think you did a great job of that. In terms of simplifying you nailed it. Your Lines of action are excellent. I am not even going to be picky here, because the gesture is just the initial blueprint, which will continue to get developed as the drawing goes on. From here you'd go on to add structure/form, and then onto adding the anatomy.

Hey @happypiqueon, I'm just getting used to this myself, but what I've been finding helpful is seeing it as multiple layers of anatomy, and that the first layer isn't even the skeleton, it's the energy/movement (gesture). So what I've been trying to do with the first layer is see how I can capture the energy of the pose with the least amount of lines possible. Then on top of that goes the curves of the muscles and other underlying anatomy, and then on top of that goes the actual skin contour.
