added comment inHow to Draw Gesture – Step by Step
Asked for help
Hello, I did some 60 second gestures today. I found it difficult to capture the entire figure in 60 seconds. Would love any feedback.

I do mine in 30 or 45 seconds, which gives me less time to think, i just focus on putting important lines where i see them. Head, lines of actions and flow.
At the end of the day, there is no one right way to do gesture, what's important is to catch the flow and rythm and not the details.
You can try Michael Matessi's book, Force Dynamic, life drawings for animators.

I really like some of these. Even some of the unfinished ones are very expressive and readable. You say 60 seconds for the whole body is difficult. I had the same issue. I can tell you what helped me. I gave myself 2 minutes at first, until my speed improved. The timer was making me feel pressured. I spent the first 20 seconds looking at the pose and figuring out where the longest line of action was, and I started with that. It helped me get an expressive gesture and it helped me figure out what I was going to do before my pencil hit the paper. It may help you to try these strategies. Good luck!

The best advice is always to keep practicing & trying to make the next drawing better than the last, that said, I personally never do more than a bean or stick figure with a 60-minute timer. My poses end up too stiff, and I get stressed out by the timer, so when I'm really looking to have enough time to 'feel' the gesture I stick with 2-5 minutes. And I can see some of this stiffness in your sketches too (though they are quite good overall).
My suggestion would be to draw a simpler sketch (e.g., stick figure - basically a line of motion for the body and each limb) until you are confident you are capturing the gesture, or to use a longer timer so you can spend more time looking for it. Once you know what you're looking for and get some practice in, it will get easier and you will be able to spot the gesture and draw faster.

They look really good Torin.
After enough practice you should be able to identify the pose during the allotted time.
What helped me with that feeling is, trying to draw the gesture of a figure in 30s using as few lines as possible. Trying to capture the essence so to speak.
Keep up the good work.

for 60-second gestures, you've done quite well to capture the movement of these bodies. They are looking cool to me. I think you just keep at it as an exercise.
