For the Line Work Studies I chose a piece by Samwise Didier, the senior concept artist behind Blizzard's Warcraft and an inspiration for myself.
His drawing had a lot of different kind of lines which I trief to replicate. It thaught me a lot about the different kind of lines that are possible and the effects they have on the drawing.
It also showed me that even though I figured out how to roughly replicate a specific kind of line, mine didnt look as good as the artists ones and how important the quality of the lines on the overall drawings are.
Really fun exercise and will do another study for sure!

The light and shadow method was really hard. Had a lot of fun experimenting between finding the shadows and finding the biggest contrast. With the changing backround it was definiteöy tough.

Finally finished the exercise, for the last one I tried to really loosen my grip since it was really fatigued from the hand sketch, I may be missing a few details and I’m pretty sure the proportions for the hand is wrong, but I’m going to leave it for now cause otherwise I’d be tweaking that thing forever.
I really like your sketches! I also found it hard sometimes to loosen up but I found it easier when the sketches are bigger so I can draw with the whole arm. :D
Then you automatically draw longer and bigger lines, which maked your whole sketch look cleaner. :)

Tried myself on the level 2 assignment. Definitely felt that I am not there yet, but nontheless it was a challenge in which I learned a lot.
First 2 pictures are the references.
Second 2 pictures are the studies.
Last 2 pictures are the drawing from imagination. Was a really fun challenge and would appreciate some feedback :)
Went with another try with the frogs. The anatomy and shapes were definitely easier to simplify which made it easier to go with different poses. Also the big eye are more expressive whoch added to the character.
The red ones are studies and copies from references and the blue ones from imagination. Definitely more happy with the result. Also like the energy and expression of my frog in the final sketch. Fun Project :)

The sketching was really fun and not as "messy" as I imagined, since i did it with a 2H pencil. Unfotunately they are barely visible on the photos.

First attempt before the demo. With the snail it wasnt too clear which contures are worth a line without making the form too sharp since its still a snail.
The boots were difficult as well, but making the lashes was a super effective exercise to study the 3-dimensional curves. But the proportions feel a little off.
Would greatly appreciate some feedback :)
Tried the portrait as well. The proportion in the left part of the face is off. The shading was a lot harder than the pear as well.
