My second Master Study. "Age" by Oldrich Kulhanek. I know my dimensions are still a WIP and perhaps my copy looks like I performed bad drag. But, here it is.

Hello! Just wanted to give a quick tip that can help with proportions. You can try the "envelope" method (shown in blue), where you assess the angles of the corners/main edges that make up the subject, copy these angles onto your page, and use them as a reference for your drawing. You can always further divide the image into smaller angles if you feel the need to when approaching the features. Another method you could also use is halving the image, then dividing again into fourths (as shown in red). Divide the area of your page into fourths as well, and use the nearby areas that the marks land on the original to start your copy. I hope this is useful. Let me know if you have any questions :)

I think this is brilliant.

Recognizing this is way past the "deadline" but I did just start the course. Perspective clearly needs work. But I chose a Picasso self-portrait for my first study. This is the first attempt.

I think, for example, Picassos bombing at Guernica shows the raw emotion surrounding the "horror of war." This painting is also beautiful, but it is also quite different from his earlier works.

Picasso's early works were highly disciplined. His paintings are strongly connected to the classical approach and are quite beautiful. His later works show great emotion, but he styled them so much that the art becomes less recognizable. I try to stay more classical because I don't have the skills to branch out into the highly stylized stuff yet. I feel that artists can get into bad habits if they don't spend enough time practicing the disciplined, classical stuff. Hmm. First drawing. Pear #3. Sorta looks like a potatoe if you asked me. But it's all a journey. Gonna have to get myself outta the potatoe field. :)
