Today’s lips /mouth studies. The first one not sure if I got the shape right, maybe turned it into Thanos, lol….

Hi @Christopher Johnson, really nice drawings! I did a paintover of #2: - I increased the contrast between light and shadow, to show the form more clearly - I added dark halftones to the wrinkles in the light, so that the form of each wrinkle is revealed - I softened the dark accent created by the crease in the shadow Hope this helps :)

Pushed the contrasts more and I think i got a better understanding of structures underneath!

The structure of the noses and the values are well done!

Beautiful work :) I like all of them. I don't have much critique to give except for maybe increasing the contrast a little. I think drawing #3 is the strongest in that regard.

a few of my eye studies, graphite on newsprint, so I didn’t try to over-render, just wanna know if I’m heading in the right direction. Thanks!

I'd say you're on the right track! These eyes look great.

Having a hard time matching up the circles to head shape and not sure if I'm making them too small or big yet, but here's some attempts!

When the head is completely in side view then it's 2 thirds upwards, downards ,left and right

various Loomis heads, should I be posting the originals? I just used a bunch of random pictures from pinterest, not sure how to easily post them :( It's a little hard to tell where I changed the proportions to match the image...Also started changing the (cheek)? rhythm to be a little higher in some of them, as I believe that was a tip from another post.

I think these are good. You can read something from ,,how to draw the head and hands" from Andrew Loomis. You can find it online as pdf

Hello, this is my first post! I have been trying to learn how to hold the pencil differently, but it's proving quite the challenge for accuracy, so my lines tend to be very unsure and scratchy for now as I work on that...The first 6 are from the proko course, the last ones are from a weekly session I started via Zoom. These are mostly 2min poses with some 30 second ones in the latter I believe. Please let me know what I can do to improve (I'm already working on the pencil holding/line/circle excercises every day, hopefully it will sink in soon!). P.S., sometimes you forget everything you're supposed to do when you start drawing in a live session, lol...

This is great work! May I ask, do you use the overhand grip? If so, do you use a desk or your lap? I found it really uncomfortable and hink the only way would be to have a reclined surface for that grip...
Andrea Anaya
Hey! I think I'd hold off on any shading for 2 minute poses. Also on some of them I couldn't tell if there were other lines besides the contour for example in the second image. Otherwise, great work!
