I would like help with foreshortening, inventing poses, and knee anatomy. I would also appreciate any other feedback as well.

Hey Fish, I like the relief look of your image, it looks like a sculpture from a ruin. I did a quick sketch over your image to show you what I would do to help with your issues. I notice that you tend to draw the heads too big and the limbs too short. It helps when you do a structural drawing for your pose in order to work out your perspective, that way you can add your clothing and other elements in a way that works with the perspective. I hope this helps :)

I'll remember to do the structural drawing next time. Thanks for the critique.

I spent way too long trying to fix the anatomy on this piece but things still look off. More specifically Hermes' back and legs (dude with the hat) and Athena's arms and face. If you see anything else wrong with it feel free to tell me. Also what else should I add when asking for help?

Hey Fish, cool concept. The best way to know how to paint water is to use reference. As far as the perspective is concerned, You need to create a vanishing point on the horizon line for each house. Your composition is also very heavy on the left, and you should balance it out by adding something to the right side. I did a quick, ugly sketch to show you what I'm getting out. Hope this helps :)

I'm still not sure if it looks right. especially the new boats that I added.

The colours look ok, just a bit overall on the cool side and neutral (which is fine as long as there's some more saturated colours in areas you want to highlight). I would definitely brighten up the bug with warm orange/reds and perhaps make the roofs of the houses warmer too. Compositionally, the house at the lower right sort of feels like it's interrupting the flow from the bugs in the water to the main bug. Try moving it more out of the scene to see the beach, then you can move the bugs more into the scene instead of where they are which feels a bit squished in. Hope that's helpful, composition is hard and I really like your concept and style here, great work!

Did I do it? Is it better?

The parts I am struggling with is perspective, the ocean, color, and composition. I tried using a rough blender model to use as a guide but ended up just guessing most of the perspective. I have no clue how to paint water. How does water reflect light, what shapes are created, and how transparency in water works. The color and composition looks wrong. I dont know why. How do I get the bug in the middle to stand out more?

Hey Fish, these drawings are pretty solid. Proportionally they're definitely correct enough. What I would say is that you probably should spend awhile just drawing circles, lines, and swaths of tone. So much of traditional art is dexterity based. It can be frustrating switching from digital to traditional, and vice versa because you're losing essentially all of the dexterity you've built with your medium of choice. I'm sure you've heard that advice before, but the longer I draw the more I realize that circles and lines are the holy grail of practice. Hope this helps!

Thank you I'll try it out.

I'm a digital artist so I'm not familiar with pencils. What can I do to improve?

holy cow this is a great study, I like how you do the lost shadows on the figure and hard highlights. However, I would suggest you to limit the range of the light family a little bit so it doesn't look too shiny and metallic. While there are a lot of soft edges on the light, I think the core shadows are too hard and graphic, some core shadows on the biceps, the chest and the brachioradial. if you're aiming for the graphic feeling then you can disregard my comment. Hope it helps.

Thank you. I'll limit the light value next time.
