Hey there, artists! I worked on some mannequins this week and I thought I'd share! For clarity, #1 is from way back when I thought this exercise was gonna be about gesture. Then on #2 you can see things started to change, and then it was just mannequin (attempts) from #3 onwards. My mannequins are pretty simple for now, but at least I've managed to convey a real sense of movement and depth, or so I believe. :D What do you think? If you could offer some critiques or guidelines for improvement, I'd be very helpful!

i love these. i think they're super neat and dynamic gestures that push past realism into something exciting and fun. they remind me of 'How to draw the Marvel Way' style mannequins

Asked for help
when drawing gesture if I try and concentrate on smooth confident lines in the Proko style I feel like I can’t ever capture the movement properly and everything is too stiff, but if I kinda scribble more and let my hand feel more sloppy and totally stop worrying about scale and the human shape (sort of like Nicolaides-ish) I feel like I nail it. my question is is this style of drawing gestures less valid? It’s definitely less neat and tidy!

Hi @asphobos, good question! I think this video might give you the answer you're looking for https://www.proko.com/lesson/qanda-gesture-vs-contour-and-scribbly-lines/discussions (at 4:25) I hope this helps :)
