I think my submission is more of like gesture than dynamic shapes. Sorry for the unrefined lines.
Rachel Dawn Owens
Gesture drawing vs drawing dynamic shapes are not that different. It’s ok to push the gesture for these. The sketchyness adds more energy too. Good stuff.

A study from @Marco Bucci 's krita demonstration. Any feedback is appreciated. Had a hard time with subtleties in color.

I need some tips on how to go through visual development process. I'm kind of lazy and flimsy as an artist, i don't usually invest more time when I make some works, that is why I think the outcome always comes out mediocre or not what I expect. And this has hold me back from leveling up. Usually it's because of the energy that I started with and then going back to continuing my artwork isn't the same. So guys, please give me tips and advices on how to overcome this. Thanks

Asked for help
Hey! I need some critiques. I don't know how will I assess this artwork since I heavily relied on my imagination and based on what I currently know. Idk this just feels plain to me. I think the values kinda feels right. But the colors and lighting is meh. Would appreciate tips/ advices.

Nice work!

Another batch. This time tried to experiment with colors and not just copy what is in the photograph.

I like these! The sky in the first one is really nicely done, and I like how you simplified the background. The cactus feels rudimentary, I think because of its width, and tone. Maybe using a brown or ochre color instead of green would divorce it from the mental image I have if a cactus? Because it’s dusk (or dawn I guess) the colors would be less saturated, and because the it’s contrajoure (I don’t know how to spell that… because the light is behind the cactus) I think it would be more silhouetted (nope, can’t spell that either.) EDIT: Contre-jour, that’s what I was looking for, and amazingly, I seplled silhouetted correctly.

And this is the second batch. This time used a small flat brush, done today. I'm proud of the outcome of these paints, it is bette than the first one.

Hello. This is my first batch of thumbnail paints all done in one session. Had a lot of dissatisfaction and a hard time painting these because of the round brush I use, somehow big to manipulate some shapes and it absorbs too much water that makes a watercolor effect which I'm not aiming for. I can't find the other picture I used as reference, I forgot where I saw it.
@artprojeff
Can I use acrylic as an alternative for gouache, because I don't have that?
Tiffanie Mang
yes you can!
