I just want to learn how to draw but I need structure/roadmap for it.

I find it difficult to draw using the entire page, i don't know it just feels like the there's a bigger chance of proportions to go wrong. and drawing small always ends up being a cluttered mess. During the VR-girl sketch i noticed that once an area starts to get too "busy" i start stressing. While at the same time I noticed that when drawing the penguin due to simplicity of the sketch I felt more pressured when doing the lines because there were just a lot less lines in comparison. I'd still appreciate critique and opinions on areas that might stand out to someone, but i also thought it was interesting how I react(emotionally) to the lines and the self critiques or self imposed pressure during sketching (problem solving) since I think both those thing tend to be what makes me quit and start over and quit and start over again.

I find that small areas where there are more details I keep "stalling" i can't process it. the penguins feet were quite a challenge cus of that, and also because there's such a small area to work on that you can only make so many errors before the whole area is colored. For the hand..oh the hand.. simplifying is hard. the first one i messed the proportions so much , so i tried a second take and even though it's a sketch i tried taking some pencil measurements. it did come of a lot better, still errors but definitely better. I find that (maybe it's just me) but I didn't felt the need for tapered lines , I definitely incorporated them during the "boxing" process , but not much after that. or maybe i did and im just not calling it that?

So I'm posting before and after seeing the demo. One of the things i struggled the most was with the show laces. It feels like there's so much information in there that my brain just sort of freezes and doesn't know how to process/simplify. There are some consistent on both tasks, obvious mistakes with proportion that I tried to ignore/not focus on because it isnt the focus of the project. and a few "chicken lines" because i wouldn't know how to gauge pressure or because i tried to retrace a line and I was just very bad at it, And lastly I think i have issues with the dynamic-ness of the objects. they just look so unmoving. Practice practice I suppose. PS before the demo the shoe laces were so daunting that I didn't even finished the drawing. but if you squint real hard you'll see the boot.

on my first attempt I definitely felt like using the stump, and even though I was still happy with it I had already set up the goal of doing one after the demo and it definitely felt like I was noticing new things. specially transition in values and the difficulty of focusing on shape language rather than line language. Any critique is welcome :)

I really like that the edges of the pear itself are sharp, but I think you could have the sharpness with the edges of the different values, so you can differentiate between the 5 values, otherwise I think you have done it really well!

One thing Proko mentions in the critiques a lot is to simplify a little more. The line of the shadows feels really complex. If you were to try again, I'd suggest trying to describe that shadow with less lines, following the "rhythms" down the pear.
