I ended up mostly keeping the same pose as one of the references and not making it as cartoonish as it could be but I'm happy with how it came out as a scissor fencing/boxing lobster with an evil antenna mustache. I've just been drawing from references before this so it was hard to figure out the shapes and perspective and everything but this helped me feel more confident about drawing from imagination and looking forward to learning more about how to do that better.

Before and after watching the demo. I was so preoccupied with accuracy the first time that the lines/the whole point of the exercise ended up being crap lol. It was fun and faster to just do it like the demo afterwards and not worry about accuracy so much.

This definitely got confusing with the value simplification and consistency across the whole portrait. Probably overcomplicated it too. Looking forward to seeing the demo now

This course helped improve my art so much. Much appreciated! Especially glad to be able to do a portrait since they can be hard to get right.

Pear 3. Definitely getting more challenging in the order of the pears. Was hard to figure out how much to simplify with this one but I just tried to design a bunch of roughly parallel lines.

Sharpening a conte 2b charcoal pencil with the razor without it breaking like in the video is so hard in my experience. I'll end up breaking the lead repeatedly until like the whole pencil is gone. I wonder if I'm causing the breaks or if they just come with lead that got broken during shipping inside the wood in a bunch of places like it was in the video. Thankfully the conte b pencil can still go as dark as you need if you just press harder or layer it more, and those sharpen just fine for me most of the time.

I learned a ton from this class, thanks for a great course! This was great practice just for controlling the pencil too which was a lot harder than Stan makes it look.

I thought this one was way harder than the other features somehow. Great tutorial and explanation of the ear shapes though!
