Design and create amazing backgrounds for video games and animation with instructor and concept artist Jose Vega, the former lead background designer for Netflix's hit series Castlevania.
This course is comprised of two complementary standalone tutorials that will cover every step of the creative process behind creating backgrounds for animation.
Learn about the first design stages, blocking environment, adding texture, rendering, projection, and more. You'll also learn about the software used by Vega and a variety of strategies that will help create stunning backgrounds to suit a variety of uses.
Throughout the course we'll use programs such as Blender and Photoshop to create the type of professional backgrounds you've seen in your favorite video games or animated show.
While I demonstrate some very high-level techniques in this course, it is meant as an introduction to the process of background development and projection. That means the content should be helpful for most people, regardless of skill level.
I used Photoshop, Blender, Quixel Bridge, and 3D-Coat throughout this course. However, you may be able to achieve similar results using different programs. And for those who simply want to learn about the process I employ, no programs are necessary.
