I have a question Keith: the clay you are using- is it a wax or clay or a mixture? For my sculpture I was now using a modeling wax. I had done a first attempt with "normal"clay - but with that I had difficulties getting started with the scultpure. I have never used normal clay (has to be burned after drying) and a wire - armature. It seems to me the tecnique is absolutely different, as with normal clay you cant work so detailed from the beginning - do you understa`nd what I mean??? So I tried the modeling wax (also for the first time)

This is chavant nsp medium which is an oil and wax based clay. Modeling wax can also work fine. Clay that is fired in a kiln cannot have an armature so if that's what you're using you would have to build it up using a different method.
Here's a video of water based clay hand by another artist https://youtu.be/As3l1I5vumY?si=KFCPWRrsLA29ySmh
Hello Keith! How about a course to the foot???? That would be cool.
