When tracing the anatomy of the left leg, it was a bit tricky to make the muscles align with the reflections in the image, resulting in a slightly odd appearance.
As for the right leg, I initially overlooked the rectus femoris and almost mistook the entire upper portion for the vastus medialis. Secondly, the middle section was also somewhat confusing, I once thought the prominent bulge in the middle was entirely the sartorius, but that seemed implausible since the sartorius couldn't possibly cover such a large area. After reviewing Stan's demonstration and consulting anatomy textbooks again, I now believe the image only shows the upper border of the sartorius, while its lower border isn't clearly visible. This entire mass is likely formed by the sartorius along with some blood vessels and nerves. As for the adductors, their origins are all relatively close to the pubic bone, near the center of the pelvis, and wouldn't appear in the middle third of the inguinal ligament.
LESSON NOTES
Which do you think is more important? Anatomical accuracy OR good design / dynamic gesture? For my thoughts watch the latest Quad Quicksketch Demo.
Our previous anatomy lesson was on the quad muscles. If you haven’t seen that video yet, go watch it. You can also download the images for this assignment in the downloads tab.
What’s missing in the free lesson: In premium we go into a lot more detail about the quad muscles and some interesting things you’ll see on the surface. I’ll also walk you through the assignments with all 6 narrated drawing demos. If you’re interested in getting the full anatomy experience check out the premium course.

2022/4/5. Good morning everybody. Here’s my last assignment for this chapter. Drawing quads has been very funny. I still have some problems with some poses when I can’t see details and I have to figure out where everything should be. Like in this last case. Stan designed a very thick sartorius on the R leg but honestly I can’t see the inferior border of it so I drew the adds much more thick than Stan’s. Thanks.
2022/4/4. Good morning everybody. Again my first attempt for this section’s assignment. Thanks.
Howdy. I'd like to ask for some help, I just finished making my Quad-notes and went on to actually drawing them in the assignment images. I feel the structure of the muscles is too scattered, like they should be connected up together, especially near the Vastus Medialis and Sartorius region. Is it just the pose, or am I doing something wrong? Thank you for all the help :) (the pose is from the first assign. image)
