Weapon Design Critique

Hello I am an aspiring concept artist and I'm currently trying to work on some pieces for my portfolio. My objective was to put together a piece that showcased the thought process and was easily readable. The cloth around the handle was particularly challenging to paint, I took inspiration from Thomas Chamberlain´s style and overall I feel like the whole thing could be better so your critiques and feedback are greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your time.

When designing anything, you have to think about what it is used for, it's function. There are basically two kinds of swords- Those for stabbing and those for slashing. These designs don't look functional for either. Also, for the length of the blade, the handle feels kind of small. I personally like the third one at the top, it has a nice asymmetrical design to it that goes with the raggedness of the sword. Hope that helps :)

I see, I should have been more mindful of those aspects, I totally disregarded the functional side! Thank you kindly for the feedback and time, I'll be sure to put your advice into practice in future pieces.
