Simplifying Skull Practice - feedback/ critiques are greatly appreciated :D

Renz Rudolf Landicho
Hello, I hope you're all having an incredible day! I did a few skull studies and tried to simplify the forms (especially the teeth lol) and identify the most important landmarks. I noticed a lot of things that I will try to f. urther work on-- like proportions, (skull and landmarks are sometimes too wide/too narrow), perspective (especially on skulls 2 and 3), and line quality (lines are scratchy and the wrong thickness in a few areas). Any critique/feedback/advice is greatly appreciated, thank you very much :D!

Hi Renz Rudolf Landicho! Great exercise, you are doing there! When I looked at your studies, I noticed a lot of inconsistencies that indicate you are studying the shapes and contures of the skull instead of forms. This seems to be more or less the same thing at first sight, but it is not. Shapes and lines changes drastically when the object or the viewer moves even slightly. If you want to understand the skull and not just "a viewpoint"/symbol, you need to focus on the volumetric forms within and around the skull and where they intersect. This will help you with the landmarks and the perspective as well as with reconstructing the skull in angles you imagined. Have a nice day and keep up the work :)

Thank you very much for the insightful critique! :D I'll keep this in mind, and I'll try to focus more on the 3d forms rather than the contours from now on! Once again, thank you very much :D!

Hey Renz, I like your skull turn-a-rounds, pretty fun exercise. I find that drawing complex shapes with all straight lines is really helpful. Your drawing seem to be mostly contour. It would be good if you really concentrated on structure, it will make your drawings more 3D. I hope this is helpful :)
