Scared to start drawing

Heyo,
For the past few months, I have spent quite some time learning about figure drawing and stuff about drawing overall. Eventually I decided to take a break from studying and practising and actually start drawing. However, whenever I pick up the pencil, I just kinda freeze.
I start worrying if I know enough to make a decent drawing and my brain just breaks into chaos while trying to remember everything i've learned.
I really dont know how to deal with this. During my time studying, i have been able to put some ideas down on paper. But drawing on my own somehow seems impossible.
What should I do about this?
Hi there! I have certainly felt this way at times and have fallen into the trap of studying trying to learn everything without actually doing. Progress will happen quicker through action though. One thing I do that eases anxiety about drawing is to use cheap materials because it is freeing to know that it doesn't matter if it is good or not. Trying out new drawing materials or new drawing exercises could be helpful. Sometimes it is not about the actual drawing and more about the process. Make choices and slowly build on your choices over time. Give yourself permission to draw bad. Doing repeatable drawing exercises everyday could help. Have a set time to draw everyday just and draw strait lines and ellipses. Things that train your hand and eye.

I know where you're coming from. Do you use a sketchbook? I know in Stan's latest video, one really useful piece of advice he put out was to avoid putting too much pressure on yourself when it comes to sketching. Instead of trying to make each drawing look nice you need to just view it as a playground for you to be messy and explore.

Knowing that I'm bound to make mistakes going into the drawing actually makes it easier for me to just start putting lines on paper. Anyway, don't beat yourself up. Keep going and stay positive!
