Robo Bean Top and Bottom Plane Perspective

How do you know if the top or bottom planes of the robo bean should be facing the viewer? I attached an image of the reference, and drew in red, what I thought the plane facing the viewer was. Thanks!

What Tassja said is correct, but remember that even in a neutral pose, the torso is tilted back and the pelvis is tilted down. I did a sketch to show you what I mean, I hope it helps :)
