Is it ok to post our own challenges here?

I’ve been thinking how fun it would be to post and participate in user submitted challenges like “paint something starting with Z”, or “heres a reference photo use it as inspiration for a new artwork and post your results by the end of the week” or even “draw/paint this still life in the style of Sergeant / Van Gogh / Loomis” etc. I noticed in the description for this topic that it said it was for official Proko challenge submissions so thought I would check first? Thank you.

So, based on everyone's feedback, most seem to support community run challenges. Some have suggested to create a new category for that, so that's what I did. I'm moving this thread into the new Community Challenges category. btw, we are working on a redesign of the community area and also on making challenges a separate feature, designed specifically for running challenges. This new category is a temporary solution in the meantime. Have fun!

Thank you so much @Stan Prokopenko :)!

I think user-submitted challenges are a great idea, I always love how people approach the same idea in different ways. I would put it in its own space separate from official challenges, so you can see all the official challenges in one list (this list will grow over the years), pinning would probably work only for the few most recent official challenges making it harder to find the old ones.

Let's see what the community wants. We were planning on keeping this category clean with only official challenges, but if there is enough interest in allowing user created challenges, I'm ok with it. I can just pin the official ones to the top. Let's VOTE.. Reply to this comment with your thought!

I agree about having a separate category for user-based challenges. That way confusion between those and official Proko challenges can be kept to a minimum, especially if Proko or any instructor for that matter happens to comment or critique.

i think its a good idea but you should make it into a new category or a sub category. would definitely give me a more of a excuse to paint more. i think you should instead have it hosted on your discord sever with the community voting what type of challenge should be next and the time limit etc. and also only have one community challenge be running at the same time to avoid confusion and clutter and have that shown here

Why not open a separate category that is specifically meant for community challenges where people could organized themselves according to their interests?
