Faces in Perspective

I've been practicing drawing faces in perspective based on some feedback I got earlier. I struggled a lot on the extreme angles, how can I improve?

Hey Crystal, Drawing heads in different angles is pretty hard, so don't feel discouraged. I can see that you were trying to use a box to work out the perspective on the first head. The problem with using a box is that it can cause us to make the face too flat. I instead use a circle to build the head on, it is closer in shape to the head. I did a sketch to show you how you can start with the circle, then build on top of it. I also included some sketches of heads in different angles to show how you can practice drawing them. I hope this helps :)

Thank you for the reference, Steve! I’ll try to think of the face as not flat, I think that’ll help a lot

I would definitely suggest give "Drawing the head and hands for all it's worth" by Andrew Loomis. In his book he walks you step by step through the process of breaking down the head into simple geometric volumes, dividing the head, adding the planes, and drawing the head in multiple angles. One thing that really helps me to place the features on the head in any view is the drop line. Just use pencil the measure a vertical or even horizontal line to find the placement and to make sure your features line up. Don't give up, you can do it!!
