Criticism for the Portrait Composition

Hello everyone, I am making this sketch of a 3/4 portrait, so I can have a good composition.
I want to somehow be able to add the flower elements at the top left, and the flowers at the bottom right.
Without sacrificing the composition, since being in the middle I feel that it is very static, what do you think?

Hey there! With composition, it all depends on the effect you want to achieve. So while having the portrait right in the center can create a static composition, it could also create a balanced effect. By leaning into the balance, you can make the girl the center of focus by surrounding her equally with more items, that way her portrait jumps out first rather than unbalanced surroundings. If you want something a bit more dynamic, the rule of thirds can help by moving her slightly towards one of the intersecting points of a 3x3 grid, which is where our eyes tend to jump to. Thinking about where the viewer's eye will go first can help you decide in your composition, keeping in mind there is no one solution, just different effects. If you want a deeper dive into practicing composition, I highly recommend the Draftsmen podcast episode on this topic: https://www.proko.com/s/U627
