And so it begins...

Hello everyone! Upon discovering the Draftsmen podcast I find myself caught up in a bit of inspiration to see what may be. With that, one of the first books I have picked up is The Natural Way to Draw by Simon Nicolaides. These sketches are from practicing the first exercise, Contour Drawing, while learning to see with more than the eye. They were done without looking at the paper, with the exception of a peak here and there (it is harder than you think). One portrait was done eyes closed; I'm sure you can figure out which one that is. Give me the good, the bad, and the ugly. I also would like to offer my apologies to the model Mallory for these wonderful sketches.
Blind contour drawing is a good exercise to help you "see" better. The idea is to train your pencil to move at the same speed as your eyes, and to "feel" the contour with your eyes and translate it to your hand. It forces you to slow down and really focus on all the different bumps and dips in the contour. These turned out pretty good by the way, keep it up :)
