I kind of like the lost and found lines
Zenas
First time boots. f up with the proportions at the beginning thats why its kind of zoomed in. I acually like it more like that. but I will do another maybe after I watched the demo and critic video
Zenas
got my pencil set today. way easier to draw the values. It doesent have a 2h in it but a pitt graphite matt set
Zenas
hard to get the values with only one pen. and backside of letters are not good to draw on

Had fun with this project and did it few times. Did not always stick with the task but had fun. and my proportions went off bad sometimes (edit: after I saw the drawings of other people, I feel kind of embarressed)

Hey, @zenas, LOVE that you went beyond the assignment and tried a range of subjects to draw. I think that's super courageous, and it'll definitely help train and improve your eye. Great work! My main critique would be to keep working on your line-making and laying down smooth, consistent tones. Find the position that is most comfortable for you to draw and then draw with your whole arm for smoother lines. This is really difficult to do at first, but with some practice it really helps! Don't be afraid to hover over the page and "ghost" the line you want to make before you lay down your stroke. This really helps me a lot. I'm seeing some nice line work and shading in the last image of the pear, so keep on practicing! Also, don't be embarrassed! We're all here to improve ourselves, and you will definitely improve the more you practice. Good luck! Hope to see more of your work in the future.

Hi @zenas Don't be embarrassed! We're all here to learn :-) Is your first pear the one you did before watching the demo, and the second the one you did after? Either way, you can see a definite improvement in terms of laying in tone and simplifying the shapes. I would practice trying to lay in clean/consistent tone (e.g. in the darkest bit at the bottom of the pear, you can see the pencil scribble on darker patches) and that's especially true on your first pear (the one with just two tones) Were you drawing with your paper on a flat surface? The proportions on the five-tone pear look a little 'stretched'. Try positioning yourself so that you have a better view of the paper. I'm no expert - just repeating what I've learned from the vids and demos and applying it to what you've done here. Great that you've tried multiple exercises - more mileage with pencil in hand means more improvement! Happy drawing :-)
