I found when gesture drawing, relying only on my wrist and fingers gave me stiff and boring gestures. I'm not even a pro by any means but I suggest using your arm more, if I remember correctly your supposed to start by finding the line of action, I believe proko has a video about it on his yt and it was extremely helpful.
