Ok, I tried drawing the pear two different ways. Digital is my medium but I also wanted to see if I could emulate a pencil drawing since the direction of the lines offers a lot more dimensionality. any feedback/advice would be greatly appreciated!
I like that you can see the planes in the hand drawn and see the curve. Very nice work.

Can I please ask if the direction of the lines matters at this stage? The demo has lines that clearly show the different planes of the pear but I’m having a lot of difficulty figuring this out in my own drawing right now. Is this something that will be explained later? many thanks in advance!
Very roughly, these are the planes I recognize on the pear. Is there a more ‘scientific’ way of doing this or just by observation and experience? Just to be clear, this is not my assignment! Just a quick sketch of what I consider to be the planes on the actual pear (before I butcher its size and planes by my own lack of drawing skills).
