I’ve got some big news! My family just welcomed our third child! It was a bit of an early surprise, but we’re all doing great.
Basics students - With this change, the next three months might run a little differently. I’ve built up a backlog of content to keep things moving, but there might still be an occasional gap. If a week goes by without new material, just know it’s temporary. Things will get back to normal soon.
Thanks for your patience as I adjust to life with three kids and gives some attention to my little one. In the meantime, keep practicing, revisit older lessons, or share your progress with the community.
I appreciate all of you. Thanks for being such a supportive group!

Level 1 challenge!
1. Two value study on Cornwell's.
2. Two value study on Zorn's
3. Two value study on Joaquin's but it doesn't look good, so...
4. I tried it again with three values(2B and 6B), Charcoal. I made the 4 x 3 inches thumbnail for this but it might be too small as value training.
Two value study on Joaquin. I feel I rendered small details too much this time.

Level 2
It was really fun but the result looked messy XD
(blots on 1 and 6 are glue I accidentally got there)

1. Sunset
2. Mysterious light from above
3. Morning
4, 5, 6. Reference scenes and a photo I used to study.
Here’s a warm-up I did before those assignments: https://www.proko.com/s/JANN

I wonder when is the deadline, but I created three paintings first as warm-ups anyway:
1-1 The animal in a dark room with pale ambient light from the left side.
1-2 Sunset light through a window.
2 1 Very cloudy mountains.
I'll post to try other lighting situations later!

Level 1
Eleven values with graphite (HB, 2B, 4B, 6B, and 10B) and ten with markers(COPIC Cool Gray 1, C3, C5, C7, and black)
Filling squares evenly with markers is hard, I see some blots in these values.
I also have difficulty in taking good photos with a smartphone!
Asked for help
6 values with graphite and there values with charcoal. Making value with charcoal is always hard!

(1) Another warmup(monochromatic ball)
(2) Complementary palette
(3) Split complementary palette
(4) Double split complementary palette
(5) The reference I used was N.C. Wyeth's work, "Leaping from Rock to Rock in Sheer Delight"
The Orangish yellow ball(1) looks tasty for some reason.
I don't like how (2) and (3) turned out. Maybe my choice of colors wasn't good, I failed to handle texture brushes, or I focused on details too much and lost the balance of colors/light and shadow. I'll do those challenges again.
The series was fun, and I feel what I learned in this course has already, and will improve my color skills significantly. Thank you, Marco!
