Here is my first set of beans. These are all from the Mallory poses and the numbers correspond to the pose file numbers. I struggled with the line of action when there was foreshortening and twisting. I think I might be making my beans too elongated as well?
Jeffery Plummer
Allison, these beans are great. The 'elongated' aspect is what your eye adds to keep it workable in your mind. I can see the gesture in these bean drawings. Beans NEVER go away. After taking many months off from this course, it is 'back to the beans' for me as a refresher. More beans please!

Update from my drawing board… Every person is different in how they approach the class assignments. Over the past weeks my efforts have been to ingrain the methods given in this course section. Taking a cue from another student pressed me to strive for something…to go faster. The results surprised me. (a few scans from these sessions attached) To draw mannequins so fast that they make no sense to ME when done is worthless. A 3 min fast mannequin is a mess. But a 4 min mannequin holds up OK. A 5 min mannequin allows me to SEE what the gesture and form represents. Good experience. Now ready to move on and learn some new skills! Proko is the perfect course for a busy person, as it fits in whenever time allows the drawing board to replace the Wacom : ) Thanks Stan!

Simplified mannequin, faster. Left is from model, right is from imagination. Thank you Jesper, I will get back to basics : )

These two poses are rough. The pose on the RH leaves me to wonder how best to DEFINE the lat and shoulder transition. More pencil! That's how.

Seems worth posting a drawing from this morning. Pose 5 of 'Mannequinization - Front View' was done in my blue pencil method of sketching the bean/gesture/robo/landmarks for a base. SCAN. Then hit the paper with 6B pencil to 'mannequin' over the guide sketch. SCAN again. Today I did add some detail for hair and feet. : )

Hi @Jeffery Plummer Your sketches are awesome! Clean, good gesture, clearly emphasized anatomy, while remaining solid.   For this specific exercise I would recommend going much simpler and also changing up the process. Starting with a well defined under drawing yields nice results, as your drawings shows, but I think you would benefit more from quantity at your level. At this point you want to draw lots of simple mannequins, so that you get a feel for the figure and its major forms.   So here´s a challenge if your up to it:   Do a bunch of mannequin drawings from reference, but this time ignore details and don´t focus to much on accuracy and proportion. Focus on the major structure and the gesture Do a simple gesture drawing, with a detail level like the 30 second gesture drawings Stan demonstrates, then add simple forms on top. I mean really simple. A box for the head, two boxes for the pelvis, ribcage and then cylinders or boxes for the limbs, hands, feet and neck. You can bend the forms to follow the gesture if you want, but I like to challenge myself to draw with unbent forms and still maintain the gesture.  Don´t add more detail than this, instead use the extra time to do draw another pose   When you´ve done a couple of these, try do draw the simple mannequin from imagination Hope this helps, and tag me in your next post if you take on this challenge :)

hello classmates! Here is a set of scans from this morning. Still doing these exercises over and over until they become my ONLY way of drawing. The sketch scan on the left is the first 15 min, on the right is 6B pencil for mannequinization over the blue bean/gesture/robo/landmarks. It is SO tempting to revert back to the Wacom and create super clean lines...but no no no. Paper + pencil is my new medium : )

2021/6/4. Hi everybody. Here's part of my assignment for this section. Thanks for any comment or suggestion. Good night.
Jeffery Plummer
Marco, good work! I could draw a completed piece from your sketch - even weeks later. This means you nailed the gesture and pose : )
Jeffery Plummer
Oh my goodness! The hand-drawn perspective grid is perfect! I've used it in programs such as FreeHand, Illustrator and AutoCad...but FORGOT to use it in drawing. Now it is in the brain goo again.THANK YOU
Jeffery Plummer
This livestream showed those around my studio that DRAWING TAKES TIME. Our culture expects artwork to just...happen...like NOW. The truth has been shown! Thank you Dave ; ) PS - LOVE your old school lead holder with the homemade grip. I'm an advocate of that too.

From yesterday - Figure from the front. I am a messy sketcher, so using the blue pen allows me to create a base drawing from which to take further. Once the bean/gesture/landmarks were down I scanned that, then mannequin could happen in 6B pencil and scan it once more to show my method. Also showing my warm up drawings.

another assignment done. Waiting for some feedback folks.@Stan Prokopenko would appreciate your critique.

I truly like how your drawing depicts the full chest-forward gesture!
