My first attempt. Any feedback appreciated. I had a hard time figuring out where the scapula was on the left side. Still don't know if I have it right. It's difficult but a lot of fun. I want to do some more.

Hi, everyone! These are my first two structure studies. Not sure if I'm doing it correctly? I'd appreciate some feedback. I struggle with figuring out if a certain part should be a box or another shape (like with the top part of the deer's torso connected to the front leg) and also "seeing" through the fur like with the abdomen in the owl. Any tips? Thanks!

I would probably simplify the owl into just a cylinder for the body and a cube for the head.

Started with how to draw gestures... it seems easy until you start to do it yourself. I fill that the proportion are off.

Hi, Girish! I'm a beginner myself, but from what I've gathered so far on here and from Stan & other professionals, you shouldn't worry about proportion when you're doing gestures. The gestures can be exaggerated so the proportions can be off and that's fine. Gestures are about getting the movement, flow, and emotion of your figure. Nice job! :)

I'm having a hard time connecting the head correctly to the rest of the body and with proportion. These are just my first set of sketches. I need to practice more.

My really quick attempt at your first gesture.

So, I am reminded of my first sketches. I admit that I REALLY struggled. My drawings were stick figures, compared to your drawings. Keep at your practices, and you will gain more confidence with your lines. Try each time to refrain from scratchy lines. Instead, use your arm, shoulder, and writs to create flowing lines. Good luck! I'll draw some of these images and post them for you.

I think you did a good job capturing the motion and feeling of the pose. * In regards to connecting the head: I think as you gradually gain a better understanding of the neck's anatomy, you'll find your issue with head connecting resolving. In proko's anatomy course he has a section on the neck. He talks briefly about it in his "spine" lesson as well. *In regards to proportions, it'll become more intuitive with more practice. In my opinion, you can help develop you intuition by measuring head units. Proko goes over measuring in his figuring drawing course. Andrew Loomis's Figure Drawing For All Its Worth has some good info on it too. *Don't self criticize your work when posting for feedback because you're doing yourself a disservice - e.i "I need to practice more". Getting feedback can be uncomfortable at times, but that uncomfortableness is important to embrace. Criticizing yourself is sort of like softening the blow, and will make critiques less impactful. Keep up the great work! :)
