My first attempt of drawing this mannequin, drew this before I got this blessing course and struggled how small my sketchbook were. I see how some people use some kind of uh board like a surface to draw(???) for figure drawings and some very smooth paper really curious about the board and papers they were using to draw, any recommendations(preferably cheap one)would save my life. thank you!

I guess you’re talking about smooth newsprint paper which is an off-white and extremely cheap drawing paper, perfect for quick charcoal sketches and general practicing. The board I bought is literally just a smooth piece of wood called a ‘drawing board’, used with sturdy metal clips to stop the paper moving. I think Stan also goes over his supplies in a video in the figure course.

Hi Court. Are you using one of the brushes from your brush pack for these sketches? If so, could I know which?

Hello I would some some critict with some of the gestuar, i used some force lines, but I did not finish it because I did not want to cheat, but is it cheating to ad few seconds or minute for i can force my lines?, And I'm trying to have confidence for cleaner lines.

Hey Mikey. It's definitely not cheating to spend a bit longer than the allotted time, especially for artists new to gesture drawings. They're difficult. Steve Huston often does the same in his demos. I think the time restraints are there primarily to encourage you to use fewer, simple lines that capture the big elements of the pose. There's also no shame in copying Stan's drawings to learn the process when you're starting out either.
