I watched the video on pencil grip but I was curious if I should be trying to practice drawing without resting my hand on the paper so that the only point of contact is the pencil? Is it okay to rest part of my hand on the paper to help stabilize? Or am I overthinking this and I should just do whatever works for me?

It really depends on what you're trying to get the result for. Like if you are working on small details, resting your hands on the paper would not affect it and it might also be comfortable to your hands. Unlike if you are starting off a drawing and lets say you want to make the foundation by making the bigger outline and all the significant areas, resting your hands might not give you the desired result.

This feels like a silly question, but here goes. I think it's been stated in this course and in the Draftsmen podcasts the importance of having a community and receiving feedback. I feel bad just taking critique and not paying that forward or reinvesting into the community, but at the same time, I don't feel very qualified to give feedback since I'm so new to drawing and art in general. Should I still attempt to do so, despite these feelings? I suppose I could always preface my posts with a statement that I'm a beginner.

IMHO, you shouldn't feel bad about not being able to offer critique yet. Like you said, you're still learning! But certainly you can offer compliments, or tell folks what you like about their art. I wouldn't lie or exaggerate to make someone feel good, but I love telling folks when they've inspired me or blown me away!

Thank you to anyone willing to provide feedback!

The form is lost a bit and blending with the cast shadow on the table. Look closely on the reference, wich one is Lighter?

As an absolute beginner, I'm really liking the videos and the pace you're setting, thank you!
