Is it possible to combine charcoal drawing with other types off mediums to add color?

Scanning Pencil Drawings
Hi all,
I'm finally making some progress with my drawing skills, and I found that scanning the drawings creates extremally low quality lines with weird artifacts, even at 600DPI.
Is there any work around this besides playing around with photoshop.

I'm not sure to call this thing a "dragon" but for sure it was a blast painting it. I've got carried away by the randomness of the design that was coming out, despite the references, and I must say that I'm pretty satisfied with the result. And all thanks of you guys! This livestream was really great and extremely useful!
Wow this is a really original (unique) dragon, would be cool to see the rest of it's body!

I just started drawing this week, and while I've done 3d modeling and sculpting really well, I feel completely hopeless with a pencil. Thanks for the live stream.
You are far from hopeless with pencil...In fact you are pretty close. What I would point out is you need to use more prominent contour lines...I made this 30 min sketches as study for production design...you can see what I mean there.
Feng Zhu said when you start studying animals, start with large mammals without fur and repties (easiest), than some insects/arthropods, marine animals, skulls, skeletons, than animals with hair, feathers and fur which is a bit harder...
Keep it up! You are pretty good actually.
You did such a great job too! I really love how you shade the subjects and add all those details with the pencil!
