added comment inAnalyzing Hiroshi Yoshida’s Rapids
I hope that when I examine my choice of works, the fact that they're pretty simple doesn't hinder my learning. Yoshida's work seems to have a lot to analyze and learn from on a piece to piece basis, I think mine will end up being very simplistic, like single characters for example. Any advice from you guys?

Drawing with perspective is about foundations and layers. I think you will quickly see how to build on any initial accomplishment and over time create complexity in your work. Don't be intimidated by someone else's finished product thinking you'll never get there. You will just like they did. One step at a time.

Do we see shadows on a black reflective surface?
You see shadows on a black, reflective surface by seeing some lit part of the reflected object.
