There's really nice confidence in your lines around the hair bun. The energy in those lines makes the structure of her hairstyle feel really solid. Good work!

Hi Marco! Just wanna say your online course Understanding and Painting the Head has been one of the best in-depth tutorials I’ve ever taken. Thank you for all the work in making your classes engaging and straightforward! I hope to have more instructors like you and Proko on my art journey. As a professional artist, what kind of community has been the most fulfilling for you? How can members of any art community keep it alive and sustainable? Thanks for taking the time for this AMA! Take care and be well!

Thanks, Sergei - happy you're enjoying that class! I think it's my best class, actually. I've been pretty lucky to have found myself in the YouTube community. It's so fulfilling to be here on this AMA, hearing from viewers of my lessons. As I sit alone here in my studio every day, it's sometimes easy to forget that I'm lucky enough to have found an audience online. I think so long as people value art lessons, then engaging with creators' lessons and social media is huge. And the instructor also benefits from hearing from folks, to understand where people are struggling and devise lessons that can help. I learn a lot from simply writing and arranging my own YouTube videos, because I have to make sure the information is accurate as well as logically presented. So, everyone gets better all together, and the community thrives from that interaction. It looks like Proko has fostered quite an active community here on this website, and I'm excited to be able to participate, both as a student and a teacher!

Hi Gino, there's a really wild detail in this drawing I enjoy! It's the diagonal marks jutting out on his nose (around his left nostril), that's gesturing towards his left eye. There's potential in that small spot that, I feel, could take over and fill the portrait with intense energy. Which makes sense with the character in the Sound of Metal (at least the first seconds of the trailer). I'll have to check out the Portrait Drawing course!

Hey Sergei! Thanks for your time. And what an interesting comment you made. I would have never thought of that! That's actually my haphazard attempt at indication of tone lol, but I see what you mean. I forgot to mention that I did want to keep this a rather loose sketch because I'm still getting used to using digital and I felt that the roughness does go with his character anyways. I'm glad it somewhat showed through! Thanks again and be safe. Gino
