I am a big fan of the old school zip a tone look myself, but these images are great. I don't know if you did these digital or not, but either way they look great.

Thanks! But the artwork isn't mine. It's by an artist named Jorge Jiminez from DC that I really like & I wanted to try my hand at coloring it under the B&W linework and the screentone effect that was already put into it. I just became fascinated by how the screentone looked that I wanted to start learning a bit more about it!

Hopefully the examples are as clear as possible since I used screenshots for the original work to provide a quick sample. If anyone has more knowledge to shine on art styles and techniques like this, I would love to be enlightened on this!

Hey all! I'm fairly new to this community but I've had a fascination lately with the technique of using screen-tone or half-tone (physical/digital) in comic books like some of the stuff seen in manga. I was wondering what your perspectives and knowledge were on this, as it seems like it's a way to enhance color work or make B&W work pop. Let me know what you guys think! Here's a couple examples of the stuff I'm studying where I've tried my hand at coloring under the B&W works that have that soft grayscale shading already set up for it (all credit goes to DC Comics' Jorge Jiminez, who happens to be one of my favorite artists to follow!)
